Dragonfly

$32.00
sold out

Dragonflies are fascinating creatures, and this particular one is a Four Stopped Chaser Dragonfly that has been encased in resin. Scientifically known as Libellula quadrimaculata, adult dragonflies are easily recognized by their large, multifaceted compound eyes, two pairs of strong, transparent wings, and elongated bodies. During rest and flight, their wings are held flat and horizontal to their body. Most dragonflies live in tropical regions near wetlands, which is necessary for egg-laying.

Fossils of large dragonfly-like insects, known as griffin flies, have been found dating back to around 325 million years ago. These ancient creatures had wingspans of up to 30 inches.

This Lucite block measures approximately 3 inches square, and you can add an optional display stand made of clear acrylic to enhance the piece and give it an excellent viewing angle. It's important to note that, as with all real insects encased in resin, there may be slight variations in size, coloration, and positioning.
