Cicada

$26.00

During long summer days, you might hear a loud insect chirping, which is a Cicada (Cicadoidea), the world's loudest insect. Cicadas often sing in chorus as a defense technique, making it difficult for predators to locate just one individual. Only male Cicadas sing, and they do so to attract a mate.

Cicadas spend most of their lives underground as nymphs, and depending on the species, they can live this way for 6 to 17 years. Once they emerge as adults, their life span is short, usually only a few weeks.

It's worth noting that, as with all insects in resin, their size, color, and positioning may vary slightly. The transparent resin block measures approximately 2 3/4 inches tall by 1 1/2 inches wide.
